Gilles Peterson's influence as a DJ, record collector, label owner, and broadcaster has been immense in the world of music, and his keen ability to scope out and break new sounds has earned him a dedicated following. Perhaps he has shared his taste-making ways best through the airwaves, and to commemorate 10 strong years of Worldwide on BBC Radio 1,BBE has released Gilles Peterson Presents: Worldwide - A Celebration Of His Syndicated Radio Show. The compilation is a tribute to Worldwide, which is broadcasted in 17 other stations around the world, as it gathers tracks that Gilles showcased before anyone else and tracks that have since become favorites among DJs and music lovers. Many of the selections, like Sa-Ra's "Rosebuds," RSL's "Wesley Music." and Jay Dee's "Rico Suave Bossa Nova" contain elements of Jazz (acid, modern, everything else), but he also includes tracks from artists like Benga and Darkstar which demonstrates Peterson's eclectic feel for all types of good music. Recommended.
